New Delhi: Counting of votes for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections will take place on Saturday and the election results will be announced. Congress has been alert to this. The party has appointed three observers for each of the two federal states. For Maharashtra, the party has appointed Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel and G Parameshwara as observers. While in Jharkhand, Tariq Anwar, Mallu Bhati and Krishna Alavuru have been given the responsibility of observing.

Three leaders each assumed responsibilities in both states.

The Congress has appointed these six leaders as observers keeping in mind any situation that may arise after counting of votes in the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections. A statement in this regard was issued by party organization general secretary KC Venugopal. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara have been appointed observers for Maharashtra. Senior Congress leader Tariq Anwar, Telangana deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Indian Youth Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru have been appointed observers of the All India Congress Committee for Jharkhand.

The count will take place tomorrow in both states.

Voting took place on November 20 in all 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, while elections were held in two phases in Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, voting was held for 43 seats in the first phase on November 13, while elections were held for 38 seats in the second and final phase on November 20. The counting of votes in both states will take place on November 23. In Maharashtra, there is a contest between ‘Mahayuti’, an alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Maha Vikas Aghadi includes Congress, Shiv Sena (Ubhatha) and Nationalist Congress Party (SP).

In Jharkhand there is a contest between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the “India” alliance. The NDA includes the BJP, AJSU, Janata Dal (United) and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), while the ‘India’ alliance (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) includes Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). .
