Haryana Police Road Safety Drive
The Haryana Police has launched a five-day special drive to promote lane discipline and road safety across the state. The goal of this campaign is to educate people about proper driving on the lanes. It will end on November 24. Haryana Police is making concerted efforts to promote lane discipline and road safety. In a statement by Haryana Police on Friday, it was said that due to these concrete efforts in this direction, 662 road accidents have been reduced from January to October this year compared to last year. During this period the number of deaths in traffic accidents has also decreased. This year there has been a reduction of 278 deaths.
505 fewer people have been injured in traffic accidents during this period compared to last year. Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujit Kapoor said that to reduce road accidents in the state, people need to seriously follow traffic rules. He said lane violation is also one of the major reasons for road accidents in the state. He said if people drive their vehicles in the designated lanes, traffic accidents can be reduced.
Challans issued for 18 lakh vehicles
Regarding the special drive, the DGP said that so far lane traffic violations have been detected in Ambala, Panchkula, Kaithal, Sirsa, Faridabad, Kurukshetra, Charkhi Dadri, Nuh, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Karnal, Hisar, Yamunanagar, Jind and Narnaul. districts. The challans have been issued. Sharing the figures, he said that from January to October, challans were issued to 18,21,318 drivers for violating traffic rules. Similarly, this year Haryana Police carried out 1,883 awareness drives to make people aware of traffic rules, in which 2,63,259 people participated.
Raising awareness among schoolchildren too
People are being made aware of lane driving by conducting awareness drives at various places including villages, dhabas and factories in the state, while school children are also being informed about traffic rules. Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic and Highways) Hardeep Doon said senior police officials have also been instructed to monitor the drive to enforce lane driving. He said drivers of heavy vehicles should be prevented from using the fast lane (right lane) and the vehicle should only travel in the designated lane.

Further, the DGP said people should choose the correct lane while driving and change lanes only after giving proper signal. People must use the correct lane to pass. Always use your turn signals before changing lanes and when overtaking. If a person is found violating the lane driving rules for the first time, a fine of Rs 500 is imposed and if he is caught for the second time, a fine of Rs 1,500 is imposed.
