Lucknow: The results of the by-elections held for nine seats in Uttar Pradesh will be announced on Saturday. The counting of votes will begin at 8:00 a.m. Trends will start to emerge after some time. BJP and SP had won these seats in 2022

In the 2022 assembly elections, the BJP won seats in Phulpur, Ghaziabad, Majhwan and Khair. While the SP had won in Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal and Kundarki. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), which was then an ally of the SP, won the Meerapur seat. The party later switched sides and is now part of the BJP-led NDA.

The Congress did not contest the by-elections, but supported the SP. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) contested all nine seats, while Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) fielded candidates in Ghaziabad, Kundarki and Mirapur. The Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), led by Chandrashekhar Azad, also contested all seats except Sisamau.
