Ahmedpur assembly constituency falls under Latur district. In 2019, Babasaheb Mohanrao Patil of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) polled 84,636 votes and defeated Vinayakrao Kishanrao Jadhav Patil of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 29,191 votes. In the 2024 assembly elections too, the NCP (Sharad faction) fielded Babasaheb Mohanrao Patil and the BJP fielded Vinayakrao Kishanrao Jadhav Patil.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Babasaheb Mohanrao Patil of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won the seat with 84,636 votes. BJP’s Vinayakrao Kishanrao Jadhav Patil came second with 55,445 votes. Vinayakrao Kishanrao Jadhav Patil won the seat as an independent candidate in the 2014 assembly elections.

Ahmedpur assembly constituency is part of the Latur Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Indian National Congress (NCP) candidate Dr. Shivajirao Kalge ​​won the Latur Lok Sabha (MP) seat by a margin of 61881 votes by defeating Sudhakar Tukaram Shringare of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Ahmedpur assembly constituency is located 45 km from Latur district. The population here is around 40 thousand. There is a good population of people from Hindu, Muslim and Jain communities here. There are also textile and sugar mills in Ahmedpur. Sugar cane, cotton and soybeans are grown in large quantities in this area.
