Harvindra Kalyan unanimously elected Assembly Speaker
Harvindra Kalyan has become MLA from Gharaunda assembly seat in Karnal for the third consecutive time.
Chandigarh News (Aaj Samaj) Chandigarh: Speculations over the election of Haryana Assembly speaker have come to an end. During the proceedings of today’s Assembly session, the Chief Minister proposed the name of MLA Harvindra Kalyan from Gharaunda, Karnal for the Speaker of the Assembly. All the MLAs supported the proposal and agreed on behalf of Harvindra Kalyan. So Harvindra Kalyan has been unanimously elected assembly president. However, a decision on the vice president position has not yet been made.
After being elected Assembly Speaker, Harvindra Kalyan hugged Chief Minister Nayab Saini. CM Nayab Saini took him to the post of Assembly Speaker. Earlier with the national anthem the work of the assembly began. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath of office to senior MLA Raghuveer Kadian as Protem president. After that, all the MLAs took oath one by one.
Harvindra Kalyan comes from the road community
Harvindra, who was elected MLA from Gharaunda in Karnal for the third consecutive time, hails from Kalyan Road community. The BJP appointed ministers from communities like OBC, Jat, Brahmin, Punjabi, Rajput, SC, etc., but the Road community could not get a place in the cabinet. Harvinder is counted among the close friends of former CM and now Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The BJP won all the five seats in Karnal district. But no one from here has been included in the cabinet. Therefore, Harvindra Kalyan has been appointed as Assembly Speaker.
