New Delhi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, convicted in the coal scam case, has received a blow from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has refused to stay Madhu Koda’s sentence. He has been sentenced to three years in prison by the lower court. They demanded the prohibition of this punishment. The Supreme Court has refused to suspend the sentence. Now he will not be able to contest the assembly elections.
Madhu Koda had appealed to the Supreme Court against the three-year sentence handed down by the lower court. Koda had challenged the Delhi High Court decision in the Supreme Court. Madhu Koda wanted to contest the Jharkhand Assembly elections. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had also rejected his petition saying that the petitioner wants to stay the decision only because he can participate in the elections, which is not justified.
