In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the contest for Karjat Jamkhed seat was very interesting and full of ups and downs due to a dummy candidate. CPN (SP) leader and grandson of Sharad Pawar, Rohit Pawar, won from this seat. His margin of victory was only 1,243 votes.
Rohit got 127,676 votes. In this seat, BJP leader Ram Shankar Shinde gave him a tough competition and Shinde got 126,433 votes. The contest became exciting thanks to independent candidate Rohit Chandrakant Pawar, who came third.

Experts say that due to the fictional independent candidate Rohit Chandrakant, NCP (SP) Rohit Pawar’s victory margin remained less. Independent Rohit Chandrakant got 3,489 votes. At the time of recount, Rohit Pawar lost by 300 votes due to some technical voting in the last round.

However, after recounting, Rohit Pawar won by 1,243 votes. There were a total of 11 candidates for this position. NOTA obtained 601 votes. When the counting of postal votes began, the PCN (SP) candidates were lagging behind, but in subsequent rounds they took the lead and eventually emerged victorious.

NCP chief Ajit Pawar avoided the question asked about Sharad Pawar’s party’s defeat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
