There have been shots fired near the Israeli embassy in Jordan. A source told Reuters that a gunman was killed in the shooting incident, while three police officers were injured and admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said Jordanian police cordoned off the area around the Israeli embassy in the capital, Amman, after hearing the gunshots. Two eyewitnesses said that after hearing sporadic gunshots, police and ambulances arrived in the Rabiyah area, where the embassy is located.
Police have asked locals to stay indoors while security personnel search for the criminals. The area near the embassy, which has a heavy police presence, is the center of frequent anti-Israel protests.
