Fresh milk: Milk prices have increased significantly lately. Be it Amul or local brands, prices have been increasing regularly. The main problem is that when companies like Amul increase prices, local dairies do the same by quoting them. However, residents of Delhi may experience some relief in the sector in the near future. In fact, Karnataka’s famous Nandini milk will now be sold in Delhi too. KMF markets milk and curd under the brand name Nandini. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMMF) has kept milk prices lower than Amul. The price of Nandini cow’s milk is Rs 56 per liter. The company’s whole milk is available at Rs 61 per litre, while toned milk is available at Rs 55 per litre. The company has fixed the price of curd at Rs 74 per kg. Referring to Amul, he said that after the increase in June, one can now buy a liter of Amul Gold for Rs 68.
Nandini’s arrival will surely be beneficial for the people of Delhi. To begin with, Nandini brand milk is more affordable than Amul. Nandini’s arrival will affect the Amul and Mother Dairy markets. Competition between companies will increase, leading to a possible price war to gain market share. If the people of Delhi enjoy the taste of Nandini brand products and their sales increase, Amul and Mother Dairy will have to give a significant response. They will only have two options: lower prices or come up with a specific plan. In each scenario, ordinary residents of Delhi will get the prize. Mother Dairy manages to sell around 3.5 million liters of fresh milk daily in Delhi-NCR. Amul also has a significant presence in the larger Delhi-NCR market. In this scenario, Nandini’s arrival could create problems for both companies.
