Gopal Rai, Delhi Environment Minister
Pollution is a serious problem in Delhi. This problem increases especially in the winter season. To stop pollution, this year the Delhi government has released a 21-point winter action plan. Under this, this time the factors causing pollution will be monitored both from the ground and from the sky. Especially in those 13 hot spots, where air quality remains worse than normal levels. The pilot project of this scheme was started in the hotspot of Wazirpur, where Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai himself arrived and started the trial of the drone.
During the launch of the pilot project, the Environment Minister said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is making continuous efforts to reduce pollution. He said 13 such hotspots have been identified in Delhi, where the air quality is worse than normal. On this occasion it has been decided to monitor these hot areas using drones.
What is the specialty?
The Environment Minister said that thanks to this modern technology, sources of sky pollution will be identified and appropriate measures will be taken accordingly. In Wazirpur area, the drone is taking photographs of various sources of pollution at a distance of about 200 metres. Through these photographs, reports will be sent to the Pollution Control Board and the Environment Department of Delhi. The drone flies at a height of 120 meters so that there is no risk of collision with nearby buildings.
He said if this pilot project is successful, it will be expanded to other hotspots of Delhi as well. He says the Aam Aadmi Party’s fight against pollution will become even stronger through technologies like drones.
BJP should stop this trick.
Recently, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva took a bath in Yamuna, after which news of his deteriorating health came. Responding to this, Gopal Rai suggested that Virendra Sachdeva should be admitted to AIIMS so that he can get treatment quickly. He said BJP people should stop such drama. The BJP has governments in four states around Delhi, but they do not pay attention to the pollution of the Yamuna. Contaminated water is continuously being dumped into Yamuna from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, so even drinking water is becoming a problem for the people of Delhi.
Gopal Rai asked the BJP to take steps to reduce pollution in and around Delhi. He said if pollution is reduced through tricks, then the BJP should continue with its tricks. And the Delhi government will continue to do its job.
Rai’s comment on CJI’s statement
When the Chief Justice asked him not to go for a morning walk due to low AQI, Rai remarked that everyone should follow health recommendations and cooperate to reduce pollution. On the recent improvement in AQI, Rai said that due to increase in wind speed the pollution level has reduced to 300. He said if the wind speed remains good, the situation will be even better. He said that before October 14, the AQI was 50-100, but later it increased. It is not that suddenly everything has gone wrong in Delhi, but the Delhi government is making continuous efforts to reduce pollution. Because of the BJP, pollution in Yamuna is increasing. The Aam Aadmi Party government is taking steps to reduce pollution in Yamuna.
