Yuzvendra Chahal
There was fierce competition to buy Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in Jeddah on the first day of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Gujarat made the first bid for the 34-year-old Chahal and then Chennai also joined the bidding war. Meanwhile, the bidding crossed Rs 14 crore. The offers for Chahal were continually increasing. During this, Punjab Kings made a bid of Rs 18 crore and included Chahal in their team. Chahal had kept his base price at Rs 2 crore in the mega auction. He was included in the list of 12 star players.
IPL’s most successful bowler Yuzvendra Chahal also had to participate in the mega auction because Rajasthan Royals had released him ahead of IPL 2025. Chahal is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. He has taken 208 wickets in 160 IPL matches. He is the only bowler who has achieved the great feat of taking more than 200 wickets in this league. Chahal has played for 3 franchises in IPL so far. This includes Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Chahal is the most successful bowler in IPL
Yuzvendra Chahal made his IPL debut in the year 2013 for the most successful team of IPL, Mumbai Indians. The following season, he joined Royal Challengers Bangalore i.e. RCB. He stayed with RCB from 2014 to 2021 and took many wickets but could not win the title even once. After this, he joined Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, where he stayed until 2024.
Chahal is among the few spinners known for acquiring wickets at wholesale rates in the IPL. So far he has done a great job of taking more than 20 wickets in 5 IPL seasons. However, despite taking so many wickets, he has failed to win the IPL title even once. Now his aim will be to end the title drought in IPL 2025. It will be interesting to see how many wickets he manages to take in the upcoming season.
