Who will be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra? This issue is much debated in political circles. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Maharashtra unit chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Sunday said leaders of the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the BJP leadership will decide who will be the next chief minister of the state. Bawankule said the people of Maharashtra have rejected the Congress. Congress state unit chief Nana Patole won the election by a margin of just 200 votes. In the elections held for the 288-member assembly in Maharashtra, the Mahayuti alliance retained power by winning 230 seats.

These three parties are included in the grand alliance.

The election results were announced on Saturday. The grand alliance also includes Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) could only win 46 seats. The MVA consists of Congress, NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT).

BJP won 132 seats

The BJP won 132 seats, the Shiv Sena won 57 and the NCP won 41 seats. In the MVA, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) candidates won 10 seats, Congress won 16 seats, while Shiv Sena (UBT) won 20 seats.

All sections voted for BJP

Bawankule said all sections of society supported the BJP in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Replying to a question about the next Chief Minister of the state, he said, “The decision in this regard will be taken by the Mahayuti leaders and the BJP Parliamentary Board.” He said the selection process would be in line with the coalition’s governance plan.

The public rejected Congress

Bawankule said the people of Maharashtra have rejected the Congress. He said Patole should heed the words of some of his colleagues demanding his resignation from the post of state Congress chief. The BJP state president said the Congress’ “lies” can be held responsible for no party getting enough seats for the post of leader of opposition in the Assembly.

He will not get the position of opposition leader in the assembly.

After the Mahayuti alliance’s big victory in Maharashtra, no one will be able to get the position of leader of the opposition in the state assembly, because no party outside the ruling alliance has been able to get the mandatory 29 seats for it. Bawankule said: ‘The public mandate in this assembly election is against the Congress. Not having an opposition leader in the Maharashtra Assembly is a result of Congress’ karma.
