Curtain rises on Deepika’s role in Kalki 2
The sequel to the dystopian film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan will be released in the year 2026. This has been confirmed by the creators themselves. Along with this, a big update about Deepika Padukone’s character was also shared. Not only this, but it has also given a glimpse of the actress’s character in the film. While attending the screening of their film at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt gave an update on ‘Kalki 2’ while talking to reporters on the red carpet. Reportedly, ‘Kalki 2’ will be Deepika’s first film after her maternity break.
Big revelation about Deepika’s role
The actress welcomed her daughter Dua Padukone Singh earlier this year. Interestingly, Dutt also revealed that Deepika was pregnant during the shooting of the first part of ‘Kalki’. She also played the role of a pregnant woman in Nag Ashwin’s film. Talking about Deepika’s role in the second part, Swapna said, “She will be seen playing the role of a mother in some parts of the sequel.”
Filming is 30 to 35 percent complete.
The producers further said, ‘Work on the film continues. Pre-production is underway and we will be on the floors soon. In addition to the first part, we also shot 30 to 35 percent of the second part. Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt also reacted to the news saying that the team will resume shooting in February or March. He further said, “We have not decided the dates yet, but we will announce them soon.”
‘Kalki 2’ will have a massive global release
Like the first part, the makers have also planned a grand global release for the second part. The mega-budget sci-fi film will star Kamal Haasan as the main villain, while Disha Patani will also play an important role. It is known that the first part of this science fiction film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ collected Rs 1,041 crore worldwide.
