The central government on Sunday appealed to all parties to ensure smooth functioning of Parliament. Before the start of the winter session on Monday, ruling party leaders met with leaders of political parties. After the all-party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters that the government has appealed to all parties to ensure smooth functioning of Parliament.

Congress demands raising issues related to Gautam Adani

Replying to a question on the opposition’s demand to raise the issue related to Gautam Adani, Rijiju said that the respective business advisory committees of the Houses will take decisions on the matters to be discussed in Parliament with the consent of the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Speaker of the Rajya Sabha. In the meeting, Congress members raised the issue of bribery allegations against the Adani Group as well as the situation in Manipur.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said the Congress also wants to discuss issues such as severe air pollution in north India, the situation in Manipur which has gone “out of control” and train accidents. The all-party meeting was called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.

LJP raised Bihar issues

At the all-party meeting ahead of the winter session of Parliament, LJP-Ram Vilas leader Arun Bharti said: ‘All parties raised the issues that were important to them. LJP-Ram Vilas raised many issues related to Bihar. We have demanded a special relief package for people affected by the floods.

The winter session will begin from Monday.

Besides BJP president JP Nadda, Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Gaurav Gogoi, T Shiva, Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Anupriya Patel attended the meeting. The winter session of Parliament will begin on Monday and last until December 20. The government has listed 16 bills, including the Waqf Amendment Bill, for consideration in the session.
