David Warner, IPL unsold auction list: The two-day mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. On the first day (November 24), the 10 teams bought 72 players spending a total of Rs 467.95 million. Now the second day of auction will take place on Monday (November 25). Former Australian opener David Warner suffered the biggest impact on the first day. It had entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 million, but no one bought it. A total of 12 players remained unsold on the first day.

Warner is a big name in itself. Not even fans and veterans expected it to remain unsold. Something similar happened with English batsman Jonny Bairstow and young Indian star Devdutt Padikkal. Nobody bought them either.

Bairstow-Warner found no buyers

Warner was part of Delhi Capitals (DC) last season. But the franchise released him. While Warner also showed no interest in the auction. Warner won the IPL title for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018. This player has been the most consistent in IPL.

While Bairstow played for Punjab Kings last season. He earned 6.75 crores in the last season. But this time Punjab released him. Furthermore, at the auction the franchise did not show interest in buying Bairstow.

Padikkal plays Test series in Australia

Padikkal is currently touring Australia. There he is playing in the Perth Test. But no franchise showed interest in buying Padikkal in the auction. Padikkal rose to fame when he was RCB’s top scorer in 2020. But after this, as soon as he joined the Rajasthan team, his form started to decline.

Padikkal scored a total of 248 runs in 12 matches in the 2024 season with an average of 20.66 and a strike rate of 121. Padikkal made his debut for India in the year 2021. Padikkal made his debut for India in the test from Perth, but it was a failure and he was eliminated without opening the account in the first inning. He couldn’t do anything special in the second innings either.

Rishabh Pant ransacked the party on the first day

Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant stole the show on the first day of the auction. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a record Rs 27 crore. Now Pant has become the most expensive player in history. While Punjab Kings bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore. Apart from this, Venkatesh Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore.
