Sambhal Violence Update: Internet has been suspended after violence during the Jama Masjid poll in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, schools up to 12th are also closed today. Police carried out raids throughout the night to identify the miscreants and arrest them. So far, 21 people have been arrested, including a woman. Police from 30 police stations have been deployed to control the situation. Police say action will be taken against these miscreants under the National Security Act (NSAKA).

Moradabad Range DIG Muniraj said 21 people have been arrested, of which two are women. Those against whom evidence is found will be arrested and presented before the court. Four people were killed and 20 police officers were injured in Sunday’s violence, including four high-ranking officers, he said. Let us tell you that so far four people have died in this violence.

According to the DIG, the police carried out raids throughout the night to nab the miscreants. During this period some illegal weapons and live cartridges have also been recovered from different places. However, no further incident has come to light after the Sunday morning incident. He also said that police from 30 police stations across the Moradabad area are deployed in the violence-affected Sambhal area.

Tense situation inside the mosque after the first recognition

The situation in Sambhal has been tense since Tuesday. In fact, the local court had ordered a survey inside the Jama Masjid on petition, stating that this Jama Masjid was built by demolishing the Harihar temple. Later on Sunday, protesters set vehicles on fire and threw stones at police. Police used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd.
