Protests by local people against the proposed ropeway project to the Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir continue unabated. Also on Monday, about 2,000 people protested against the project. Stones were also thrown at the police during this period.
Monday was the fourth day of this protest that began on November 22. This demonstration has continued continuously for the last three days. Today, for the fourth day, Congress leader Bhupendra Singh was also present with the protesters. On Monday, police attempted to arrest protesting workers. However, he did not listen to the police. When the police tried to remove them by force, they started throwing stones. Many police officers were also injured in the stone-pelting. Currently, CRPF 6 battalion is also at the spot along with the police administration and continuous efforts are being made to convince the protesters.
The project is worth Rs 250 crore.
