A fresh case of cyber fraud came to light on Monday in Delhi where the victim found it costly to extract the mobile number from the internet. Not only this, Truecaller app also called that number as customer care number. Nearly Rs 3 lakh was withdrawn from the victim’s account.
Bhagwan Singh, who lives in Delhi, uses Airtel’s fiber internet service, Airtel Xstream Fiber. He suddenly thought of calling the company’s customer care and on November 25, i.e. Monday, he became a victim of a fraud of approximately Rs 3 lakh.
I was searching for Airtel Xstream Fiber number on the internet
The victim searched for Airtel Xstream Fiber customer care number on the internet. Subsequently, a call was made to the phone number that appeared in the search result.
After this the victim told her problem. Then the fake customer care executive assured that full assistance would be provided. After this, he accessed the necessary details during the conversation. The scammer installed some apps on your phone to provide support and obtained the OTP of the phone remotely.
Typically, for customer support, a remote application is installed on the user’s phone or system so that support can be provided by accessing the device. The same thing happened in this case too, the victim didn’t even know about this, because he himself had searched on Google and got the number of Airtel Xstream Fiber.
The surprising thing is that even on apps like TrueCaller, the name of Airtel Xstream Fiber Customer Care appeared in this fake number. Generally, scammers and spam numbers appear in the spam category on True Caller, but this was not the case here.
I received three messages from the bank and many thousands of rupees were deducted.
The victim reported that on November 25, she received three messages from the bank, in which they told her that money had been deducted from her bank account. The thing to note here is that there have been three reductions of Rs 98710. Two transfers were done through IMPS and one transfer through UPI. After receiving this message, the victim lost consciousness. After this, he filed a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Complaints Portal.
However, after complaining, he has not yet received any resolution. When we spoke to Bhagwan Singh, he told us that he had also filed a report with the bank but had not received any solution from ICICI Bank so far.

Remember these things to protect yourself from cybersecurity
Do not blindly believe any number or information found on the Internet. These could be the numbers of cyberbullies. After this they may throw dust in your eyes. After this they can get bank details and OTP etc. After this, they can embezzle several hundred thousand rupees.

Do not share bank details or OTP
To protect yourself from cyber fraud, it is important not to share banking details with anyone. By doing this, they can access your bank account. During this period, do not share the One Time Password (OTP) even by mistake.
Don’t click the link
Cybercriminals often send a link to users and then ask the victim to click on it. As soon as the victim clicks on the link. After that, cyber thugs hack the phone using spy apps or other methods. After this they even empty the bank account.
