The National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Monday made a strong comeback in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections and won the posts of president and joint secretary. This year, NSUI’s Raunak Khatri polled 20,207 votes, defeating ABVP’s Rishabh Chaudhary by over 1,300 votes, while Chaudhary polled 18,864 votes. Not only this, last year the ABVP got the posts of President of the Students’ Union along with the posts of Secretary and Joint Secretary, while this year the ABVP was reduced to two posts.

The Congress student wing celebrated its return to the DUSU, which has been in the ABVP for a long time. This year NSUI won the posts of President and Deputy General Secretary, ABVP won the posts of Vice President and General Secretary. Previously, ABVP held three of the four central panel posts, while NSUI held only the vice-president’s post. Earlier in the year 2017, student leader Rocky Tuseed had won in NSUI.
