The infection spreads among young people and women

Transmission pattern changed due to drugs

Referring to changes in the transmission pattern of HIV infection in Iran, Abbasian, director of Iran’s AIDS Research Center, said: ‘Unfortunately, some psychoactive stimulants such as marijuana and amphetamines expose people to sexual behaviors. high risk and this greatly increases transmission. of HIV.

Sexual transmission became the main cause of HIV.

Abbasian has warned that the pattern of spread of HIV infection through sexual relations has increased. Of 24,760 people, about 28 percent became infected with HIV through sexual intercourse. And it has increased to 65 percent in the first 6 months of 2024. That means that a change in the infection pattern is being observed.
