The Congress won only 16 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Its ally Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) has 20 seats and the NCP (Sharad faction) has 10 seats. Samajwadi Party also won 2 seats.

Talking about the Haryana Assembly elections, the Congress won 37 seats. The BJP had won 48 seats. If we look at the vote percentage, the Congress got 39.1 per cent votes in the state and the BJP got 39.9 per cent votes. The Congress seemed quite confident in its victory, however, when the results came in, it was in for a big surprise.

While the three parties Mahavikas Aghadi, NCP (Sharad Pawar), Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) won a total of 46 seats.
