Delhi- Recruitment company TeamLease Services expects new job growth of 7.1% between October 2024 and March 2025, indicating a possible rebound in hiring. This is higher than the 6.33% growth seen between April 2024 and September 2024.
This increase reflects the collective opinion of 59% of employers who plan to expand the workforce, while 22% plan to maintain their current staffing levels over the next five months.
For example, logistics has seen a net employment change of 14.2%, as 69% of companies in the sector plan to increase their workforce by March 2025.
According to the report, strong recruitment can be seen in electric vehicles and electric vehicle infrastructure (12.1%), agriculture and agrochemicals (10.5%), and technology and e-commerce startups (8.9%). Startups, in particular, can leverage AI-based customer insights, Web 3.0 applications and seasonal demand from the festive period.
The report highlights that geographical variations are occurring in the labor market. For example, cities like Coimbatore (24.6%) and Gurgaon (22.6%) are becoming employment hubs, representing a decentralization of employment opportunities beyond traditional metropolitan areas.
The report said, “While Bengaluru (53.1%), Mumbai (50.2%) and Hyderabad (48.2%) remain the core employment centers with high demand for labour, cities like Coimbatore, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Lucknow and Nagpur.” indicates a wide spread of job growth across India, strengthening the attractiveness of smaller cities as a viable option for job seekers and businesses.”
In terms of skills, companies are not only looking to fill positions, but also specific skills that adapt to current operational and technical needs. Skills such as problem solving (35.3%), time management (30.4%) and after-sales service (28.4%) are becoming increasingly important in new jobs, while communication (57.8%) %), sales and marketing (44.6%) already exist. Jobs that require skills such as critical thinking (37.3%) remain essential.
Meanwhile, the report says policies such as Global Capability Centers (GCCs), which are estimated to add $60 billion to India’s economy by 2025, are creating highly skilled roles in technology and research and development (R&D). D). Additionally, Mission Semiconductors aims to create 80,000 jobs by 2025 through an investment of Rs 1.25 lakh crore.
