Chandigarh (Aaj Samaj). The National Health Mission (NHM) Punjab has entered into a major agreement with Indian Bank to provide cashless health insurance coverage to its 8 lakh medical, paramedical and other employees to provide essential health services. This agreement was signed by NHM Punjab Mission Director Ghanshyam Thori and Indian Bank Field General Manager Sandeep Kumar Ghoshal in the presence of Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Balbir Singh.
Talking about the risks associated with the treatment of infectious diseases, Dr Balbir Singh said that the State Health Society has partnered with Indian Bank to provide a robust health insurance package. This initiative will benefit approximately 8,000 medical, paramedical and other staff providing essential health services at NHM Punjab in the state. He said this package includes cashless health insurance cover of up to Rs 2 lakh for each employee and group accidental death insurance cover of up to Rs 40 lakh.
This initiative will make it easier for NHM employees to obtain necessary medical treatment and hospitalization without the burden of additional expenses. The total estimated cost of this insurance is Rs 4 million per year, making a total of Rs 12 million for three years and will be borne by the Indian Bank.
This comprehensive initiative not only increases employee satisfaction, but also helps ensure a healthier and more productive workforce. This reflects the commitment of the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Agwant Singh Mann, to the well-being of its employees and the overall health of its citizens.
