A shocking dowry case has come to light in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. The marriage of Pooja, daughter of Rajveer Katheria, a resident of Biriya village of Madhaugarh police station area, was arranged with Vikas, son of Mata Prasad Katheria, a resident of Ekon village of Kuthound police station area. All the preparations for the wedding were completed at Shalini Guest House on 25th November. Arrangements were also made to welcome the wedding procession.
It is alleged that on the wedding day the groom’s side suddenly demanded a car as dowry. When the bride’s side expressed their inability, the groom’s side flatly refused to bring the wedding procession. Bride Pooja was shocked to hear the news that the wedding procession would not arrive.
The wedding procession did not arrive because the car was not available.
Pooja reached Madhogarh police station with her family, but not being heard there, she approached the SP office. The crying bride asked the SP for justice. As soon as the matter came to the notice of senior officials, the police swung into action.
Police registered the case and started investigation.
Madhaugarh Kotwali in-charge Pappu Singh Yadav said the groom’s father requested ten days and assured that he would be reimbursed for the expenses incurred in the wedding. The police are currently investigating the matter. The bride’s family is deeply shocked by this incident and hopes that justice will be served.
