No rain alert in Chandigarh, chances of drought in November after October

Chandigarh News|Chandigarh: The month of November is about to end but so far the cold effect is not visible and there is no rain in North India including Punjab and Chandigarh. After a completely dry October, November will end without precipitation, making it one of the driest months in recent years for the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that there will be no rainfall in the next 10 days in Chandigarh, indicating that this November will be a rainfall deficit compared to 2022, when no rainfall was recorded. In the last decade, this will be the second rainless November in Chandigarh.

Western disturbance weakened

IMD Chandigarh director Surendra Paul attributed the lack of rain to the absence of active Western Disturbance (WD), which usually brings rain at this time of the year.

Paul said: “This season, we haven’t seen any significant WD. “Either they have been very weak or they have passed through the north of the area.”

the temperature remains above normal

Due to prolonged drought, the temperature in Chandigarh in November was above normal. In the last week alone, daytime temperatures have fluctuated significantly, going from 24.1 degrees Celsius on November 17 to 28.8 degrees Celsius on November 24, with a slight dip midweek.

With no chance of rain and continued hot days, November is likely to be as dry and hot as October, raising concerns about changing weather patterns in the region.
