Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur Police arrested storyteller Wasim alias Zone Model with a reward of Rs 50,000 from Odisha and brought him to Saharanpur. Wasim had escaped from police custody six months ago. He was facing a murder case and would probably be sentenced to life in prison. During his court appearance, he had planned to escape by pushing past the police, in which he was assisted by his wife, brother and friends.
Wasim said during interrogation that his wife repeatedly visited him in jail and advised him to escape. After this he planned to escape from the court with his old friend Zeeshan and his brother Tipu. Then, on June 3, during his arraignment, he pushed the police away, took off his handcuffs, and ran away.

Driver made to hide his identity
Meanwhile, his brother Tipu was outside with a scooter, through which he reached Habibgarh poultry farm. After this, he reached Shamli by tempo and car and remained hidden in Zeeshan’s house for 17 to 18 days. Then he went to Odisha. To hide his identity, he started driving himself and changed his SIM card and mobile phone. But police tracked his location through surveillance and arrested him. It is noteworthy that Wasim’s wife had given false information about the kidnapping to the local police.
The police said this in the matter.
SP City Abhimanyu Manglik said Wasim had absconded to avoid life imprisonment in the murder case. Following his arrest, the reward amount increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. The police and SWAT team together arrested him. Fresh legal action is now being taken against Wasim.
