Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh police have achieved great success against cybercrime and arrested 11 cybercriminals who committed a fraud of Rs 190 crore. The network of these criminals extends not only in India but also abroad. The gang worked to deceive innocent people by luring them through WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and fake apps.
According to the police, this gang used to run a fake call center in a rented house, where fraud work was carried out in 24-hour shifts. The defendants used to lure people into making huge profits by investing small amounts in fake games and other apps. As soon as a large amount was deposited, your ID was closed.
190 Crore Fraud for Fake Call Center
SP Azamgarh Hemraj Meena said that the complaints of cyber fraud had been coming for a long time. During surveillance, police exposed corruption in a house in Kotwali area. Information on 171 bank accounts, hundreds of mobile phones, laptops and cash have been recovered from the accused.
Police arrested 11 accused
The 11 detained defendants are residents of different states of the country. Investigation has revealed that their network is also connected internationally. The applications and platforms used for fraud are being investigated. All the accused have been sent to prison.
