Mumbai murder case – Son murdered for refusing to call second wife as mother, life in prison for murdered father – Mumbai court sentences man to life in prison for killing son for refusing to call second wife as a mother opnm2

In Mumbai, a man brutally murdered his son because he refused to call his second wife mother. This matter is from 2018. Six years later, the court sentenced the murderous father to life imprisonment in this case. The mother of the deceased had filed a complaint against her husband.

Additional Sessions Judge SD Taushikar convicted Salim Shaikh of murder. The court stated in its order that the prosecution has successfully proven that he committed the crime of murdering his son. According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the incident occurred in August 2018.

Murderer Salim Shaikh had a fight with his son Imran. Imran had refused to call Salim’s second wife mother. The dispute took a terrible turn when the sheikh began to fatally attack his son. During this, the victim quickly ran to the police station to save his life.

Salim chased Imran while he was fleeing from the house located in Dongri area of south Mumbai. He was fatally attacked with scissors. The complaint states the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Salim’s lawyer claimed that Imran was drunk. He had injured himself with a sharp weapon.

The defense also said that according to the post-mortem report, some of the injuries on the victim’s body were caused by himself. However, the court rejected the arguments and said that if the victim had tried to commit suicide, her mother would not have gone to the police station for help. Evidence of this is present at the police station.

The court also said that if Imran had committed suicide, his father would have stayed with him and admitted him to the hospital instead of fleeing the scene. The second witness had also told about the fight between father and son and his oral testimony also corroborated the medical evidence.

The prosecution, calling it the rarest case, had demanded the death penalty for the accused. However, the court said this case does not fit into the rarer category prescribed by the Supreme Court. Therefore, considering the general circumstances, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
