War between Hezbollah and Israel stopped, Netanyahu announced ceasefire

Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a ceasefire with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which is expected to end ongoing fierce fighting between the two sides. Prior to this decision, the Israeli Security Cabinet had discussed the ceasefire.

The Israeli army carried out several airstrikes against the Lebanese capital in the last 24 hours, killing at least 31 people. At the same time, Hezbollah continued to fire rockets at Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu gave three main reasons behind the ceasefire. These include focusing on the growing threat from Iran, revitalizing and replenishing the Israeli military, and isolating Hamas by separating several fronts.

After the ceasefire, there is a possibility of temporary peace in the region, although the current tension between the two sides has raised serious questions about regional stability. This decision is considered part of Israel’s strategic priorities so that efforts can be made to establish long-term peace.

Regarding the ceasefire, officials reported that Israeli troops will have to withdraw from southern Lebanon. Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib said that following the withdrawal of Israeli troops, the Lebanese army will be ready to deploy at least 5,000 soldiers in southern Lebanon. He also said the United States can play a role in rebuilding infrastructure destroyed by Israeli attacks.

The UN had expressed concern

Before the ceasefire announcement, Israel carried out an airstrike against Lebanon, in which a large number of people were killed and many injured. The UN had also expressed concern over the rising death toll. The UN had said that about 100 people, including women, children and doctors, had been killed in Israeli airstrikes in recent days.

Hezbollah had attacked Israel in September, in response to which Israel attacked Hezbollah. Hezbollah chief Syed Hassan Nasrallah was killed in this Israeli attack. Along with this, the main commanders also died.
