The war being fought in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah will now cease. Israeli attacks on Lebanon will also cease as Israel’s security cabinet approved a ceasefire deal with Iran-backed Hezbollah. Thanks to this, the way has been paved to end the war in Lebanon.
In the war between Israel and Hezbollah, some 3,800 people have been killed in Lebanon, while another 16,000 have been injured.
The Reuters news agency said Israel’s War Cabinet approved the ceasefire agreement. It is now likely to be announced by US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Reuters cited officials as saying that under the ceasefire agreement, Israeli troops would have to withdraw from southern Lebanon and the Lebanese army would have to deploy to the area. Along with this, Hezbollah will also end its armed presence on the border south of the Litani River.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the duration of the ceasefire depends on what happens in Lebanon, we will implement the agreement and respond firmly to any violations. We will remain united until victory.
