‘Constitution Day Padayatra’ marked in Chandigarh to celebrate 75th year

Chandigarh News |Chandigarh: Advisor to Chandigarh Administrator Rajeev Verma started a Padyatra (walk march) with 500 youth volunteers of My Bharat on the theme ‘My Constitution, My Freedom’ to celebrate Constitution Day in Chandigarh. This program is organized by Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. r. Ambedkar Bhawan, Sector-37, Chandigarh.

Rajeev Verma said that today is a day of immense joy and pride as we celebrate the adoption of the Constitution of India and commit to honoring the vision of the Founders, marking an important milestone in India’s democratic journey. He appealed to all citizens of Chandigarh to come forward and be a part of this national campaign by becoming aware of our fundamental rights, duties and laws as mentioned in the Constitution.

Giving more details about the Padyatra, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandigarh, Sanjana Vats mentioned that this Padyatra is one of the series of Padyatras performed over a year by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Labor and Employment of the Union. Part of a series organized on the theme ‘My Constitution Mera Swadhin’ with 10,000 My India youth volunteers to celebrate Constitution Day on November 25, 2024 in New Delhi. He led a padayatra (foot march). Each Padayatra in the series will focus on a unique theme to inspire the youth and celebrate India’s rich heritage. The program was inaugurated by Dr. B. r. Ambedkar ji was followed by an extensive art exhibition of paintings by young people depicting the life and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar.

The Padyatra started at BR Ambedkar Bhawan, Sector-37 and ended at Sports Complex, Sector-42, Stadium. More than 500 youth participants from various organizations including My Bharat Volunteers, NYKS, NSS, Department of School Education and Sports participated in this Padayatra. Youth participation is a key component of the event. These activities are designed to create a meaningful connection between young citizens and their constitutional heritage.

On this occasion, Secretary Sports and Education, Prerna Puri HS Also present were Brar, Director School Education, Saurabh Arora, Director Sports and Culture, Rajeev Tiwari, Director Public Relations, State Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Dr . Amarjeet Singh and other officials of the Chandigarh administration. An interactive Preamble reading ceremony was organized to complement the programme, where the young participants felt connected to India’s constitutional values. The event is an important milestone in the year-long celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution. Evolved India 2047 emphasizes the role of youth in preserving and promoting constitutional values.
