National Highway is closed since February 2024, thousands of drivers face problems
Punjab (Aaj Samaj) Patiala/Ambala News Update: The national highway which has been closed since February 2024 may be opened. A round of agitation is going on between Patiala and Ambala officials in this regard. If sources are to be believed, this was agreed upon in the meeting held yesterday but has not yet been officially confirmed. It may be noted that the National Highway was closed by putting up barricades from the Ambala side when farmers from Punjab marched towards Delhi on February 13.
Since then, due to the closure of this route, drivers are facing problems. They are forced to use alternative routes to enter Punjab. On the other hand, due to road closures, many industries are also on the verge of closure. A decision on the matter is now expected to be made soon.

The decision will be taken in view of the farmers’ march to Delhi.
The administration is considering opening a four-foot area from the Shanchhau barrier. In the meeting of senior officials of Punjab and Haryana, it was agreed that farmers will be given the opportunity to move forward without tractors on December 6. The peasant organizations have given a 10-day ultimatum to the central government; if their demands are not met, they will intensify the movement. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said if the government does not take any decision, farmers will march in groups to the Shambhu border on December 6.
Police action condemned
Pandher condemned the police action. He said the police broke the fiber door and entered the shed where Dallewal was sleeping. From there he was arrested. Not even the wearing of turbans, shoes and warm clothing was allowed. Such misconduct with an elderly and senior agricultural leader is wrong. He said governments want to end the movement, but they will not allow these conspiracies to succeed. He demanded Dallewal’s early release.
