There is no reservation benefit under the pretext of conversion… Supreme Court rejects woman’s petition

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court rejected the petition of a woman from Puducherry, seeking the benefit of reservation in the Scheduled Caste post. Rejecting the petition, the Supreme Court said that if someone converts just to take advantage of reservation, then he cannot be allowed to take advantage of it under his guise.

The top court said that a person who regularly goes to church and follows the tradition of Christianity cannot avail the benefits of reservation under the Scheduled Caste by calling himself a Hindu. The woman had filed a petition seeking the benefit of reservation in the scheduled caste position.

The conversion to take advantage of the reservation benefits is not correct – SC

The Supreme Court stated that this woman follows the traditions of Christianity and goes to church regularly. Despite this, he calls himself a Hindu and wants to take advantage of the reservation given to Schedule Caste for employment purposes. This woman’s double claim is unacceptable. After “baptism”, she herself cannot claim to be a Hindu and cannot be granted the benefit of scheduled caste reservation.
