Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a ceasefire with the Lebanese organization Hezbollah. With this, the fight that has been going on for 14 months between the two will come to an end. Netanyahu took pity on Hezbollah, but his mercy could prove fatal for Iran and Hamas. In fact, while addressing the nation, Netanyahu explained why Israel has made the Seafire decision.
Netanyahu’s office said the Security Cabinet approved the US-brokered ceasefire plan by a vote of 10 to 1. Israel has praised the US contribution to this process. However, he also made it clear that he reserves the right to take any measures taken for his own safety.
Why was the ceasefire announced?
Netanyahu also explained the reason why the ceasefire was announced. Addressing the nation, he said the duration of the ceasefire will depend on developments in Lebanon. Netanyahu also said that this will allow us to know whether the ceasefire is a temporary measure or not. Prime Minister Netanyahu said the Israeli military should focus on Iran.
In the second reason, Netanyahu said that the Israeli army needs to replenish its reserves. Elaborating on this, he said, it is no secret that there has been a great delay in the delivery of weapons and war materials. These delays will be resolved soon. We will receive supplies of weapons that will keep our soldiers safe.
Citing the third reason, Netanyahu said the ceasefire with Hezbollah is a strategy to isolate Hamas. He further said that after the war, Hamas trusted Hezbollah. But now that Hezbollah is out of the picture, Hamas is left alone. He said that we will increase our pressure on Hamas and this will help us in our mission to free our hostages.
In his speech, Netanyahu also said there was a dispute over a clause in the ceasefire agreement. Lebanon was opposed to this. If Hezbollah violates the agreement, we will be free to take military action.
Iran and Hezbollah with Hamas
If we talk about tension between Hamas and Israel, it increased after October 7, 2023. The tension between the two increased after the Hamas attack in Israel. Israel has been bombing Gaza since the Hamas attack. More than a year has passed since the war between Israel and Hamas. According to Palestine, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 44,000. More than half of those murdered are women and children.
Iran’s representative has opened a front against Israel
Hezbollah and the Houthis also support Hamas. These three are called representatives of Iran. This is the reason why Israel’s tension with Iran has also increased. Iranian proxies have united and are opening a front against Israel in the Middle East. For the past 24 hours, Iranian proxies have been attacking Israeli bases. At the same time, the Houthis fire missiles at ships of European countries in the Red Sea.
Houthi fighters attacked an Italian cargo ship. The Italian ship was heading from the Gulf of Aden towards Iran. But the Houthis fired a missile at the ship in the Bab-al-Mandab Strait. The Italian ship was damaged due to the missile attack by Houthi fighters. It is alleged that the Houthis attacked this ship with rockets. It was a container ship from the Italian company MSC Tavishi. Tavwishi is the world’s largest container shipping company. 20% of maritime trade is carried out through this company. The Houthis have damaged 14 company ships this year.
The Houthis not only attacked in the Red Sea, but also fired ballistic missiles at the Israeli city of Eilat. The Houthis reportedly fired two ballistic missiles at the port of Eilat. However, Israel claims that it destroyed the ballistic missiles in the air. Meanwhile, the Iraqi Resistance Force has also opened a front against Israel. Resistance forces have bombed the Golan Heights.
The Iraqi resistance attacked the Golan Heights with 20 rockets and 8 drones. It is stated that 6 rockets managed to reach the target. However, Israel has said that the resistance attack has completely failed.
