Chinmoy Prabhu arrested in Bangladesh

Following the arrest of ISKCON religious leader Chinmoy Prabhu in Bangladesh, his supporters protested. A lawyer lost his life in this violence. The name of the deceased assistant government lawyer is Saiful Islam. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. According to the union president, the protesters forcibly dragged Saiful Islam into the room and murdered him. According to local Bengali newspaper Prothom Alo, people present at the scene said that before killing the lawyer, the protesters brutally beat him.

Recently, the case of a senior religious leader of ISKCON in Bangladesh was heard in the Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Chittagong. During this time, the court rejected his bail and sent Chinmay Prabhu to jail. He has been named as a defendant in the treason case. His arrest was protested by angry people, during which violence broke out.

Chinmoy Prabhu was arrested at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. After his arrest, his followers tried to block the road and a large crowd gathered in front of his truck. According to security personnel, his truck was removed from the scene with great difficulty. For this he had to resort to lathicharge against the people who were protesting at the place. Chinmay Prabhu has appealed to his followers from jail to maintain peace.

What did the deputy commissioner say?

His supporters say religious leader Chinmoy Prabhu’s life is in danger and he should be released as soon as possible. According to the Daily Star report, protests against his arrest were taking place in several areas including Dhaka, Cumilla, Khulna, Dinajpur and Cox’s Bazar. City Police Deputy Commissioner Liaquat Ali reported the death of one person but said they are still investigating the entire matter.
