NTPC Green Energy IPO Lists, Trades Only at This Premium and Slow Start

The listing of the long-awaited shares of NTPC Green Energy took place on Wednesday. But the start was slow. They were listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at Rs 111.5, just 3.2 per cent higher than the issue price of Rs 108. On the Bombay Stock Exchange i.e. BSE, it was trading at Rs 111.60, 3.33 per cent above the IPO price. Let us tell you about the initial public offering (IPO) of NTPC Green, which is worth Rs 10,000 crore. This IPO was open for bidding from November 19 to 22. The green energy company’s shares were priced between Rs 102 and Rs 108 per share for the issue.

2.55 times the offers received

NTPC Green Energy IPO received 2.55 times bids in three days. According to the news, the IPO received bids for 142.65 million shares against the offering of 56 million shares. The retail investors segment was booked 3.59 times, while the non-institutional investors (NII) category was not fully subscribed and was bid 0.85 times. The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) portion was subscribed 3.51 times.

The minimum investment to be made was ₹14,904

In the NTPC Green Energy IPO, a retail buyer had to apply for a minimum of 138 shares in one lot. At least Rs 14,904 was needed for this. There were different lot sizes for small and large NIIs, ranging from Rs 2,08,656 to Rs 10,13,472. IDBI Capital Markets Services, HDFC Bank, IIFL Securities and Nuvama Wealth Management were the lead bookrunners for the IPO, while Kfin Technologies was the registrar for the issue.

As of September 2024, it is the largest public sector company in renewable energy (except hydro) in terms of operating capacity and power generation. According to Livemint, it had an operational capacity of 3,220 MW in solar projects and 100 MW in wind projects across 6 states as of September 2024.
