The images that came from Islamabad on Tuesday are heartbreaking. There blood runs through the streets. The army is shooting at the general public. Islamabad was surrounded by thousands of Imran Khan’s supporters on Monday and Tuesday. There is a civil war like situation in Pakistan. Clashes continue between security forces and Imran Khan’s supporters. Four rangers of the Pakistani force were killed. Three Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers were killed and dozens of people were injured. Imran Khan’s supporters had reached Islamabad demanding his release.
Shahbaz Sharif’s government had closed all entry routes to Islamabad by putting up three layers of containers. A ten meter high barricade was erected. When the situation worsened, the army was deployed in Islamabad. On Tuesday night, the army carried out mass house arrest of Imran’s supporters across the country, following which Imran’s party postponed the protest. On Tuesday, armed soldiers were stationed on top of the container. Even after this, thousands of Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers managed to enter Islamabad.
The situation is such that now the Pakistani army was firing bullets at its own people from helicopters. The call for the protest seen in Islamabad was made by the imprisoned Imran Khan. Imran had given people the date of November 24. It was said that this is the day to break the chains of slavery. Imran told the people of Pakistan that they have to decide whether they want imprisonment like Bahadur Shah Zafar or the crown of freedom like Tipu Sultan. Imran Khan gave the responsibility of conveying his message to the people to Bushra Bibi and she led this entire protest. The demand is that Imran Khan be released from jail.
The millions of people who took to the streets have two reasons to have hope. Firstly, Pakistani courts acquitted Imran Khan or granted him bail in most of the cases. On the other hand, after Donald Trump wins the elections in the United States, Imran’s supporters also hope to receive help from there, but Shahbaz Sharif’s government is not ready to give in at all. He wants to crush Imran’s protest with the help of the army.
The truth is that today in Pakistan there is no constitution, no security, no human rights, not even food to eat twice a day. That’s why the people were angry and stood with their chests up in front of the army. They were willing to sacrifice their lives. This situation in Pakistan is not good news for India.
