(Kurukshetra News) Kurukshetra. The craft fair organized at the 37th edition of Ratnavali Mahotsav gave a glimpse of India’s independence. The products of young artists continued to be the center of attraction for the public. On the first day of the festival, the chief guest was Prof. Director of National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra. Bibi Ramanna Reddy, Vice Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva, Registrar Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, special guest KDB Honorary Secretary Upendra Singhal and awardee President Prem Dehati formally inaugurated the craft fair.
Deputy Director of the Department of Youth and Cultural Programs Dr Gurcharan Singh said that 54 stalls have been set up in the craft fair in which the Department of Fine Arts, the University Higher Secondary Model School, the Department of Tourism, Department of Home Sciences, Department of Management, Mass. Communication and Media have been installed. Native products and foods made by students of the Technological Institute are exhibited. At the craft fair, 135 students of the Fine Arts Department display their products at 13 stalls where students have prepared handmade paintings, calligraphy, Diwali home decor items, paper items and other decorative items. Apart from this, students of the University Higher Secondary Model School have made handmade items under the guidance of teachers Amit Kumar and Vinay Kumar. Items prepared by small school children attract people.
Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Prof. Somnath Sachdeva and Prof. BV Ramanna Reddy wholeheartedly praised the young artists and blessed the students to go ahead and work better in the future. Especially Vice Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva congratulated the students for becoming self-reliant and said that Ratnavali Mahotsav is not an entertainment festival but a laboratory where students’ skills are honed and they are provided a platform to advance in life. At the craft fair, students display their products and learn what people’s expectations are of them and how they should improve their products in life. Apart from this, a painting exhibition by teachers of Fine Arts Department was also organized in the craft fair in which Dr. Gurcharan, Dr. Pawan, Dr. Monica, Dr. Rakesh Bani, Dr. . On Ratnavali Mahotsav, young singers told people the importance of living within folk decorum through raganis at the Ragani competition at the Kurukshetra University Open Air Theatre. He gave a message on Haryanvi folk culture, lifestyle of people here, daily routine, public behavior, dress, Teej festival and public decorum. In the competition, first, SUS Government College, Karnal gave a brilliant presentation saying, “I will not back down, I will remove Gaura’s pain.” After this, students of Arya PG College Panipat, Government College Palwal and Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Mahavidyalaya Uchana also exhibited their art. The jury of this show consisted of Inder Singh Lamba, Gulab Singh (Jat Mehar Singh voice awardee), Satish Kumar (Haryana singer awardee). Haryanvi rituals enthralled everyone at the Haryanvi Ritual competition organized at the Auditorium on the first day of the Ratnavali Mahotsav that began at Kurukshetra University. While the younger generation had the opportunity to come face to face with their rich customs, the elders remembered their days. Jyotiba Phule Government College, Radaur started the competition by performing the Haryanvi ritual called “Baan”. This ritual is performed before marriage. His energetic presentation filled the entire auditorium with enthusiasm.
The second performance was by the team of Rajiv Gandhi Mahila College, Unchana, Jind, in which they performed the pre-wedding ritual “Khodiya”. He also presented popular songs related to Khodiya, which added a beautiful musical touch to his performance. The Karnal Buddha Group of Institutes also put up a stellar performance, which was highly appreciated by the audience. Following this, DAV Government College, Ambala city, presented a beautiful display of “Bhat” ritual that shows the love and support of family at weddings. KM Government College, Narwana also showed his deep knowledge of “Khodiya” ritual by demonstrating it enthusiastically. Government College, Jind concluded the program with his wonderful presentation which left the audience overwhelmed with the beauty and significance of Haryanvi traditions and also featured several participants. The pageant successfully highlighted the diversity and beauty of Haryanvi customs and fostered a sense of community while celebrating the cultural heritage of the region.
