Chandigarh/SAS Nagar (Aaj Samaj)In another major success, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in a joint operation with SAS Nagar police arrested two members of Davinder Bambiha gang and recovered from their possession two .32 caliber pistols and seven cartridges. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav today said that those arrested have been identified as Harinder Singh, a resident of Mahimadpur village of SAS Nagar and Gurjinder Singh, a resident of Warana village of SAS Nagar.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said the arrested accused were working on the instructions of US-based Kulveer Singh alias Lala Bainipal, who is an associate of foreign-born gangster Lucky Patial. Convict Lala Banipal had earlier planned two separate attacks in SAS Nagar, which included attacking a financier in September 2023 and a rival gang member in December 2023.
The DGP said that preliminary investigation revealed that these accused were held responsible for committing several crimes in the Tricity area. He further said that a thorough investigation is being carried out in this matter so that his other associates and family members can be traced. SAS Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Pareek said police teams had received credible information that Lala Banipal had given his gang members the responsibility of carrying out criminal activities in the tricity.
He said acting quickly on the information, joint teams of AGTF and SAS Nagar police managed to track down the accused and arrest them at the focal point near Mubarakpur. The SSP said that the accused Harinder has a criminal record and cases related to attempt to murder and Arms Act have been registered against him. He said further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other accomplices.
