Who will become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra? Eknath Shinde has given up amid questions. Addressing a press conference in Thane, Shinde said that I have worked for the state and will continue to do so. The Chief Minister will be from the BJP and I will accept it wholeheartedly. However, who will be appointed Chief Minister by the Bharatiya Janata Party remains in suspense.

In Maharashtra, which has 288 assembly seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party alliance has won over 230 seats. By winning 132 seats, the BJP has become the largest party in the assembly.

Eknath Shinde surrendered

In his 18-minute Marathi press conference in Thane, Eknath Shinde said that when he took charge of the post of Chief Minister, Maharashtra was ranked third in terms of development. I took it to number one. The women of Maharashtra have unilaterally given the mandate in our favour. We had founded Ladki Bahin Yojana for them.

Shinde further said that he will continue his work. The BJP has to take the final decision on the post of Chief Minister. They will all work together under whoever the BJP high command appoints as Chief Minister. I’m not going to be a speed breaker.

During the press conference, Shinde also read ‘Abhi to udaan baaki hai’, which has become a famous verse in Maharashtra politics.

Question: Why did Shinde surrender?

Eknath Shinde’s party won 57 seats in the recent elections held in Maharashtra. Its ally BJP has won 132 seats. In Maharashtra, which has 288 seats, 145 MPs are needed to form the government.

BJP is just 13 steps away from the magic number. BJP also has the support of 5 independents and 41 NCP MLAs. In such a situation, you have no problem touching the majority mark. The BJP, being the largest party, claims the post of Chief Minister.

In such a situation, Eknath Shinde has no option but to accept the BJP formula. If Shinde does not remain in power, his position could weaken in the upcoming Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections.

It is said that municipal elections may soon be held in Mumbai. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has been considered the stronghold of the Shiv Sena. After the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, Eknath Shinde will now try to show his strength here too.

The suspense continues in the CM post

Although Eknath Shinde has withdrawn his claim for the CM post, suspense remains over the CM post even within the BJP. It is said that the BJP will send observers and first take the opinion of the MLAs and then elect the new Chief Minister.

Even within the alliance, Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis have been called to Delhi to create a consensus on the Chief Minister’s post. Eknath Shinde himself has confirmed this. Shinde has said that there will be a Mahayuti meeting and then the decision will be taken.

In the last year, the BJP has formed new governments in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Haryana. Except Haryana, the BJP has taken a shocking decision in selecting the Chief Ministers of all other states.
