Devendra Fadnavis seems to be the strongest candidate for the CM post. This is also because Eknath Shinde had recently indicated during the press conference that he himself is not in the race for the CM post and the next CM will be from the BJP only.

Mahayuti scores massive victory in Maharashtra Assembly elections
Mahayuti has a huge mandate in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Mahayuti alliance has won 230 seats out of 288. In this, only the BJP has won 132 seats. While Shiv Sena won 57 seats and NCP 41 seats. In such a situation, the BJP has assumed the role of elder brother by winning maximum number of seats and on this basis, there is speculation regarding the CM post that the CM will be from the BJP.
