Gas leak in Andhra Pradesh, (Aaj Samaj), Amravati: One person has died and 20 others are hospitalized, some of whom are in critical condition, after a poisonous gas leak at a pharmaceutical company in Anakapalle district of Andhra Pradesh, police said on Wednesday. An official said 20 employees were admitted to the hospital, one of whom died and some are in critical condition. Amit, deceased aged 23, was a resident of Odisha.

According to police, the incident occurred when workers were cleaning smoke coming out of the reactor without taking precautions. Huge pressure was then created by adding hydrochloric acid (HCl) and chloroform to the reactor.
In this process, they inhaled the smoke and 20 people became unconscious. The side effects of the poisonous gas were not immediately visible. A few hours later, around midnight, employees began coughing and having trouble breathing.

These accusations against the company’s management

Police said company management had failed to warn employees about the dangers of inhaling poisonous gas fumes. Officials said a case will be registered over the incident. YSRCP leader Gudivada Amarnath said such incidents happen frequently. He appealed to the government to take the matter seriously and take strict action against the companies responsible.

CM gave instructions for better treatment

Expressing concern over the incident at Tagore Pharma, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy urged the TDP government to provide quality treatment to the hospitalized employees and provide relief to the families of the deceased. .
