Apple recently launched the iPhone 16 series globally. This new series from Apple has been very popular among people. For the first time, the company has included the artificial intelligence feature in its iPhone. Sales of Apple’s new iPhone 16 have started in more than 50 countries, including India. Meanwhile, Indonesia has banned Apple’s new iPhone 16 series.
According to the report, the Indonesian government has banned the sale of the iPhone 16, as well as the entry of the iPhone 16 at the country’s border. In such a situation, if you have an iPhone 16 and want to travel to Indonesia, you need to keep a few things in mind. First, let’s know what is the main reason for banning iPhone 16.
Ban imposed for this reason
Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Curtasmita said the use of the iPhone 16 will be banned in the country until Apple meets its local investment requirements. According to the report, Apple has not launched the iPhone 16 in Indonesia because, according to the government of that country, the company has not met the investment target.
Apple has invested Rp1.48 trillion in Indonesia, Rp14.75 million less than the Rp1.71 trillion set by the government. Under Indonesian regulations, any product sold in the country will require 40 percent local content, which includes components, labor and facilities. Apple has not met the investment objective of the iPhone 16. Its sale without the necessary IMEI certification will be considered illegal in the country.
Keep these things in mind
This ban will also affect travelers arriving in the country. If you are planning to travel to Indonesia, you should keep these things in mind.
- You will also have to carry another secondary phone with you along with the iPhone 16, so you can use it for calls or other services.
- Without the IMEI certificate, the local SIM card cannot be used on the iPhone 16. In such a situation, you will have to rely on a portable Wi-Fi device or a public Wi-Fi network.
- Currently, the government is reviewing the IMEI certification of the iPhone 16. In such a situation, you will need to stay informed about the removal of the ban on the iPhone.
