IMD Alert on Cyclone (Aaj Samaj), New Delhi: The deep depression spreading over the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to develop into a cyclonic storm this afternoon, following which the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert. It is expected to pass near the coast of Sri Lanka and move towards Tamil Nadu in the next two days. According to the Regional Meteorological Department (RMC), Chennai, due to the possibility of thunderstorm, an orange alert for very heavy rain may be issued at isolated places in Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Cuddalore and Puducherry districts.
