If you are also thinking about admitting your children to the infant class, then this news is important for you. The nursery admission process will begin from today in around 1,741 schools in Delhi. The schools have decided the admission criteria on their website and the admission forms will also start being available in all schools from today. Parents will need to complete forms for all schools in which they are interested. Parents have been given until December 20 to take stock of the school and complete the form.

As always in this race for admission to kindergartens, this time also the ‘Distance Neighborhood School’, i.e. distance from home, takes first place, but admission will not be made solely on the basis of distance . Many schools have offered the option to complete the form both online and offline on their website. Apart from this, the schools will use the 100 point system, on the basis of which marks will be given to the students and the admission list will be prepared through this marking system.

What are the admission criteria?

Each school has established different criteria for admission to kindergarten. The most important criterion among them is the distance to the house. Apart from this, priority will also be given to girls, unmarried sons, brothers and single parents. Some schools have also prepared special criteria for Sikh and Christian minorities, economically weaker sections and parents with physical disabilities.

Private and recognized unaided schools have come up with a point system for admission, where 30 to 100 points will be awarded based on various criteria. Most schools have given ratings of 30 to 90 for neighborhoods and remote areas. If the distance between school and home is 6 kilometers or less, the child will earn 50 points for Neighborhood. At the same time, if the distance is 6 to 8 kilometers, 40 points will be awarded, and for the distance from 8 to 15 kilometers, 30 points will be prescribed.
