Demonstrations in many countries, including India, over the arrest of Chinmay Krishna Das
Hindu spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was associated with the ISKCON temple, has become a topic of discussion not only in Bangladesh but also in many countries, including India, after his arrest and demands for his release were also made. Chandan Kumar Dhar Prakash Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, popularly known as Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, is currently the spokesperson of Sanatan Jagran Manch and is associated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon). Chinmoy Das, who runs the ISKCON religious site called Pundarik Dham in Chittagong, was arrested by the Detective Unit (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday afternoon.
Famous spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das was recently arrested on charges of treason. A court then refused to grant him bail, following which mass protests began in many places, including the capital Dhaka and Chittagong. Chinmay was a member of ISKCON but was recently expelled.

The next day, Tuesday, a Chittagong court ordered his arrest, leading to massive demonstrations in front of the court. In the case filed by Mohammad Firoz Khan at Kotwali police station in Chittagong, Chinmoy Krishna Das and 18 others have been accused of hoisting the saffron flag over the national flag of Bangladesh during a rally on October 25.
This rally was organized by the Hindu community under the banner “Sanatan Jagran Manch” at New Market Square in Chittagong. The case also alleged that the act amounted to “desecration” and “contempt for the sovereignty of the country”, calling it “seditious activity aimed at destabilizing the country by promoting an anarchic environment”.

What does the law say there?
Come on, tell us what the law of Bangladesh says in the case where Chinmay Krishna has been arrested and he has not even been granted bail. According to the Bangladesh Flag Rules of 1972, no other flag can be flown over the national flag in the country.
According to amendments introduced in 2010, failure to comply with this law can lead to imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to 5,000 taka (Bangladeshi taka), or both. In the same case, Article 124 (A) of the Penal Code has also been cited, which defines treason as any act that creates an atmosphere of contempt or hatred against the government established by law.
Provision for life imprisonment too
According to this article, “Whoever by words spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representation, or otherwise, incites hatred or contempt, or attempts to provoke or arouse discontent against the Government established by law, or attempts inciting, will be punished with life imprisonment or a shorter term, to which a fine may also be added, or with imprisonment for up to three years, to which a fine may also be added, or with a fine.
