- Seth Chhajuram Lamba had donated Rs 88 lakh from his lifetime earnings: Sunil Lamba
(Bhiwani News) Bhiwani. On the 159th birth anniversary of Danveer Seth Chhajuram, his great-grandson Sunil Lamba remembered him by placing a garland on his statue located near the local Haryana Board of School Education. Apart from this, late Havan and games were also organized at Alakhpura, the ancestral village of Seth Chhajuram.
Seth Chhajuram was born on 28 November 1865 in Alakhpura village under Bawanikheda tehsil.
On this occasion, Sunil Lamba, great-grandson of Seth Chhajuram Lamba, said that Seth Chhajuram was born on November 28, 1865 in Alakhpura village under Bawanikheda tehsil of Bhiwani. He had a special interest in studies since his childhood. He started teaching SN Roy’s children in Rewari at the rate of one rupee per month. When Roy went to Calcutta, he called Chhajuram there too.
Chhajuram helped Subhash Chandra Bose financially while he was traveling to Germany.
Here Chhajuram started his business with tuition and became a big businessman of Calcutta. When Bhagat Singh shot dead the British officer Saunders, Chhajuram took Bhagat Singh as shelter in his house in Calcutta for two and a half months. While Chhajuram helped Subhash Chandra Bose financially while he was traveling to Germany. Not only this, but he bore all the expenses of farmer Messiah Chhotu Ram’s education.
Sunil Lamba said Seth Chhaju Ram understood the importance of education. He worked tirelessly for the spread of education and, donating Rs 88 lakh of his well-earned money, built educational institutions, hospitals, ponds and dharamshalas. He said that Seth Chhajuram’s contribution to the development of the nation is unforgettable and thus he will always remain a source of inspiration. Advocate Anil Sangwan, Sunil Swami Haluvasia, Advocate Nishant Dhanda, Advocate Gautam Singh, Anil Kathpalia, Mahipal, Sonu, Satbir and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
