Hemant Soren has taken oath as the 14th Chief Minister of the state in a grand ceremony held in Ranchi. According to information, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered oath and secrecy to Soren. This is the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader’s fourth term as CM.

  • In the recently held assembly elections in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren won the Barhait seat by defeating BJP’s Gamaliel Hembram by a margin of 39,791 votes.
  • The JMM-led Indian Alliance maintained its majority by winning 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, while the BJP-led NDA won 24 seats.
  • The total number of members of the Jharkhand Assembly is 81 and the magic number required for majority is 41 MLAs. The India Block number is definitely 15 more than the number required for the majority.
