Bikapur, Ayodhya. The Bikapur Child Nutrition Project Department, responsible for the nutrition of pregnant women and children, is itself a victim of the chaos. The Child Development Project Officer’s office, located on the side of Prayagraj Highway at Bikapur headquarters, is run in the old and unused dilapidated building of the Community Health Center established several decades ago. Because there is less space, it is quite narrow and there is a lot of difficulty in seating the Anganwadi center supervisors and officials. During the rainy months, water continues to drip from the ceiling of the building’s rooms. And there is moisture and water in the ground. The deterioration of the building creates a problem of storing nutritious food that is distributed to children and pregnant women. Apart from this, there has been encroachment by traders who have set up kiosks and vegetable and fruit shops along the boundary wall of the building. So the problem arises. A total of 184 Anganwadi centers are operating in the Gram Panchayats of the development block area. In which there are 154 main Anganwadi centers and 30 mini Anganwadi centres. But most Anganwadi centers do not have their own building. So far, construction of buildings has been completed only in 28 Anganwadi centers that have their own buildings. While so far 156 Anganwadi centers do not have their own buildings. These Anganwadis function in the terrace, additional hall or Panchayat building of central council schools. Three Anganwadi center buildings are under construction and the development block proposes construction of 20 Anganwadi center buildings. Construction work will begin when the estimate arrives. There has not yet been any proposal for the construction of 133 Anganwadi buildings. Apart from the 163 Anganwadi workers, 30 mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi assistants have been deployed throughout the development block area.
Child Development Project Officer Rajesh Kumar Gupta said that after the proposal for a new building of the Child Project Officer’s office, a new building is being constructed on the premises of the development block. But the contractor has stopped construction work for the last three months. Due to the timely completion of the construction of the new building, the office is located in the old, dilapidated hospital building. Since the 156 Anganwadi centers operating in the block area do not have their own buildings, the additional rooms of the Central Council Anganwadi School are operating in the terrace and Panchayat building. The Block Development Officer has been asked to construct the Anganwadi centers by making a proposal in the Gram Panchayats.
