The National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Mumbai on Thursday sentenced three Bangladeshi nationals to five years in prison. Following the order of the special NIA court, the three Bangladeshis have been sent to prison. He was accused of providing shelter to terrorists of Bangladeshi terrorist organization Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in Pune. With this, the number of people sanctioned in this case rises to five.
The convicts sentenced by the NIA court include Mohammad Habibur Rahman Habib alias Raj Jesub Mandal, Hannan Anwar Hussain Khan (alias Hannan Baburali Ghazi) and Mohammad Azrali Subhanallah (alias Raja Jesub Mandal). Three Bangladeshi nationals have been convicted under relevant sections of the IPC and Foreigners Act. The accused have been sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rs 2,000.

The Mumbai NIA court has so far convicted a total of five accused in this case (RC-01/2018/NIA/MUM). In early October 2023, Ripen Hussain alias Rubel and Mohammad Hasan Ali Mohammad Aamir Ali were also sentenced to five years in prison. This case was first registered by the Pune police in March 2018. The police had received information that many Bangladeshi nationals were living illegally in Pune.
The police received information that they were providing aid and shelter to ABT members by providing logistics. The police had captured Habib from Dhobighat, Bhairoba Nala area in Pune, Maharashtra. A total of five Bangladeshi nationals were subsequently arrested. In May 2018, the NIA took over the investigation into the case. The investigation revealed that the arrested Bangladeshi nationals had illegally infiltrated into India.
He sheltered the leader of the ABT
They provided fake Indian identity cards like PAN card, Aadhar card, Voter ID card and Ration card through fake documents. They used these documents to obtain SIM cards, open bank accounts and get jobs in India. The NIA investigation also revealed that the accused provided shelter and financial assistance to several members of ABT, including a key member, Samad Mia alias Tanveer alias Saiful alias Tushar Biswas.
